Berenice Dena has a professional background in business, education and in social services.
Berenice has a formal education from California State University of Dominguez Hills where in 2004 she received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Classical Management-International Business. She also received a minor in Child Development. Berenice, however, continues to educate herself for personal enrichment by continually taking courses at various local colleges and universities such as University of California Los Angeles, Long Beach City College, Cerritos College, and Compton Community College, among many other institutions. She is well rounded in diverse areas of study such as Psychology, Child Development, Business Management, Business Law, and Italian.
Berenice is a young woman who understand what women really need and want and About U Boutique is an expression of this. About U Boutique loves to inspire women to be their best, to find their passions. Berenice opened About U Boutique during the economic recession in 2010 that affected many businesses nationwide and despite these challenges has continued success having recently celebrated its six year anniversary.
Berenice Dena continues to support and advocate for community organizations and small local businesses. Through her business, About U Boutique, she continues to participates in First Fridays Art Walk giving artists and musicians an opportunity to showcase their talent. Berenice is the creator and founder of Bixby Knolls’ Sunday Fundays, a monthly happening which brings together art, music and local businesses for a day of community fun. Sunday Fundays are very unique and bring unity to the community. Sunday Fundays have the support of many local business and community.
Berenice through About U Boutique offers young men and women ages 16 through 24 internship positions at her boutique shop. There are several ways in which she offers internship programs. Since 2012 Bernice has offered internships through a partnership with Long Beach City College and California State University of Long Beach Fashion Departments and Business Departments. Since 2015 Bernice has also offered internships in partnership with Pacific Gateway, a workforce public agency serving Long Beach, Signal Hill, and the Los Angeles Harbor communities. Young adults receive hands on training and preparation for the workforce and career preparation along with guidance and orientation in a professional real life setting. She enjoys being able to assist young adults and feels like her business gives has an opportunity to share knowledge and guidance with young adults. She offer this without any financial interest or compensation. Her only reward is the joy of seeing these young adults succeed and feel self confident and accomplished.
